Audience

 Using the UK tribes online channel 4 website I have defined my audience into two people:

The first being a styler who is in the urban category and the other being a trendie in the aspirant category. 
These most relate to the audience because Madonna is very main stream high class women who people absolutely adore and I feel that the people I have chosen have the same feelings.
They are pictured below.

I have chosen the song Hung Up by Madonna it has been adopted by the gay rights community and therefore can be used as a protest song. Madonna is also with the record company Warner Bros. 


 My ideas haven’t really developed into how I can create my music video to show protest.

One of my ideas is to follow a teenage girl around the age of 17-18 in her daily routine but she has a problem with metal health and drug addictions. As she goes through her day she starts seeing things and everything slows down. - ‘Time goes by so slowly’ 


The words ‘ I don’t know what to do’ is a symbol that she needs help, the song is quite hectic and so this would represent how she feels everyday like things are going so slowly. This will fit into the genre because it is a protest making people aware of mental health in teens. By the end of the video the girl will come to the realisation that she needs help but it will finish with a close up of her mouth saying the words ‘I don’t know what to do’.


The core values of Warner Music Group are honesty and integrity. In terms of my video idea these core values will be represented through the protest of people getting help when they need it.

The audience is 16-25 year olds who are middle class people.

I will use a performer in my music video who will suit the genre of the video because the genre is about protesting and the performer I use will be scruffy and tired - your typical drug addicted teen. I am taking inspiration for what the girl should look like from the television series ‘Skins’ and the character ‘Effy’. 










My video is going to attracted the perfect audience members because it will have everything a rebellious teenage girl wants: Rebellion, school and 

This is the inspiration for the model I will be using in my music video. The makeup design and similar outfit choices.

One main character -  school girl. The inspiration for my character to be a young teenage girl comes from the age of the audience as it is 16-25 year olds having a seven teen year old girl as the main focus would interest the intended audience. I am aiming to get the character to look as stereotypical as I can. Especially as this particular teenager is struggling with a drug addiction, so she should have bags under her eyes, she should be constantly fidgeting, she should be looking under dressed and really run down. The history of the genre.

The genre of that our music video has to fit into is protest. This means that it has to be a song that has a message to do with protesting against something or someone. The history of the genre protest –  Protest music has been around for centuries when it became so popular due to people being able to express there feelings with a catchy song or in a way that would get people of higher authority attention. Protest songs are usually written as part of a movement for political or cultural reasons but this can vary. The broadness of the genre gives song writers political freedom which is a way to get there message or point into peoples heads. Songs can change from being quiet and haunting to someone screaming down a microphone about death but these are all accepted as protest songs.  The first American protest songs were created due to war and slavery to create awareness for the huge issues that many people were not aware about at the time.
