Prayer - 
One main person during the whole of the video (choir and god).
There is use of lip synching. Set mainly in a church and some parts are on a street. 
The church relates to the title of the song 'Like a prayer'.
The words of the song almost tell the story that is being told in the music video.
The side story to the main story in the video is the fact that a group of men stab a young women and then when the group of men leave a young black man comes to save her, this is when the police turn up and presume that he is the attacker. 
This is a protest video in itself as it is showing racism and people of colour being mis treated even if they are innocent. 
Madonna is the only good white person shown in the whole video everyone else who is represented is black.

Vogue - 
The video is all in a black and white filter.
The opening scenes opens up to what looks like an art exhibition but the art is the people modelling. 
There are dancers who are wearing suits and look very fancy - honestly the Madonna look.
There are male and female dancers with 3 different locations that have been filmed in the video as a whole.

Virgin -
The video is set in Venice along the canal.
Madonna is wearing a white wedding dress, wearing white is also symbolism for purity and it is said that if you are a 'virgin' then you are pure in 'Gods eyes' - religious aspect.
The lion is there to tempt her, there is a real lion and then a man dressed up as a male.

The genre of that our music video has to fit into is protest. This means that it has to be a song that has a message to do with protesting against something or someone. The history of the genre protest –  Protest music has been around for centuries when it became so popular due to people being able to express there feelings with a catchy song or in a way that would get people of higher authority attention. Protest songs are usually written as part of a movement for political or cultural reasons but this can vary.   I have chosen the song Hung Up by Madonna because it is such an iconic song that has been adopted by the gay community. In this song Madonna is waiting for a guy to call her as the phrase ‘time goes by so slowly’ shows that she has been waiting for a long time or could mean that it actually hasn’t been that long. The music is based off of the song ‘Gimme! Gimme! Gimmie!’ by Abba. Hung Up has been one of Maddona most successful songs with a 8.7 million copies being sold world wide. Statement of intent.

 STATEMENT OF INTENT -  I have chosen the song Hung Up by Madonna it has been adopted by the gay rights community and therefore can be used as a protest song. Madonna is also with the record company Warner Bros.   My ideas haven’t really developed into how I can create my music video to show protest. One of my ideas is to follow a teenage girl around the age of 17-18 in her daily routine but she has a problem with metal health and drug addictions. As she goes through her day she starts seeing things and everything slows down. - ‘Time goes by so slowly’  The words ‘ I don’t know what to do’ is a symbol that she needs help, the song is quite hectic and so this would represent how she feels everyday like things are going so slowly. This will fit into the genre because it is a protest making people aware of mental health in teens.
